Rural Connections is a joint venture between The Province of Ontario, Township of Smith-Ennismore-Lakefield and Bell Aliant. The purpose of this venture is to bring High Speed Data access to more residents of the Township of Smith-Ennismore-Lakefield, not currently being served.

The Township of Smith-Ennismore-Lakefield has submitted a successful application for funding from the Government of Ontario’s Rural Connections Phase 2 grant program. The Township received a $1 million grant to expand broadband services. The RFP was awarded to Bell Aliant Regional Communications Limited to implement a wireline solution to expand broadband services. Bell Aliant will invest just over $2 million to create a $3 million broadband investment in the County of Peterborough.
